Suzushin is located a 4-minute walk away from Yotsuya-3chome station. Their tonkatsu and katsudon are so famous that people from near and far come to eat them.

The restaurant has a Japanese old-fashioned decoration and atmosphere. They only have counter seats, which allows you to watch the chef cook your meal in front of you.

Their signature menu is "Kake Katsudon". The chef slices the pork after your place your order (except during lunch time).

They only use fresh lard for the frying oil, which is one of the secrets to making the tonkatsu much crispier.

Time to eat!

Soon after you open the lid, the appetizing savory smell comes out. Can't wait to take a bite!

So, what is special and unique about their katsudon is they don't simmer the tonkatsu (pork cutlet). Instead, they put the freshly fried tonkatsu on the rice and simmered eggs and onions.

As they don't simmer all together, you can enjoy the different textures such as fluffy eggs, crispy, and tonkatsu. The sauce is sweet and savory, and rich in flavors which goes well with the rice and pork.

Lastly...

Katsudon is one of the most popular Japanese dishes you should try when you are in Japan. If you want to have an ultimate katsudon experience, you should go to Suzushin!
