Samurai Spirit

Located on the eastern side of Shinjuku station in Kabukicho district lies Sengoku Buyuden, a modern Japanese restaurant with a twist - Samurai Spirit. While I can't prove whether or not there are actual spirits here, there is plenty of history and culture about possibly Japan's most notorious warriors: Samurai.
If you're a history buff or really into to samurai culture, swords, castles, or anything else Bushido related you'll definitely want to make the trip here. One word.

Impressive.
The artefacts, whether real or not (I would say good copies), are surprisingly authentic looking and add to the restaurants "historical Japan" atmosphere. It's sometimes hard to find places like this in a place with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of restaurants. But by George, this is a great find!
The quality of the cuisine here is definitely up there with some finer dining restaurants. The presentation is next to none. Everything is prepared with care and plated beautifully. The food itself is a fantastic reason to come here. Just the sheer variety of dishes is one of it's strong points.
If you're running a little thirsty, you will not be disappointed about the selection of drinks here either. They have a vast cocktail menu with some delicious looking colourful drinks to choose from.
Sake is also a great choice when dining here. They even have sake with gold leaves sprinkle on top. Talk about fancy!
The owners of this place clearly had a wonderful concept in mind when they came up with the idea. Even the shoe boxes are delicately themed!

Getting there

Less than a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku station east entrance. Just head down towards the infamous red light district or use google maps to find your way.
