Shabu Shabu In Shinjuku
There are over 100 shabu shabu restaurants in the vicinity of the Shinjuku Station! It's a great battleground for the famous Japanese hotpot of thinly sliced meats and pieces of vegetables that is so fun to eat. The abundance of choices might be overwhelming so we've narrowed it down to the best places to have shabu shabu in Shinjuku.
This restaurant is definitely one of the best for shabu shabu in Shinjuku. It is located in Kabukicho, among the crowded streets and the bright lights, but the interior is so warm and calming.
The restaurant has some excellent quality meat and vegetables. The presentation of the dishes is also quite something. It adds an extra touch that makes it feel more sophisticated than other shabu shabu restaurants. Another point of merit of this restaurant is the excellent homemade sesame dipping sauce served with every meal.
Tsukitei is a traditional-style, very zen Japanese shabu shabu restaurant. You'll be surprised by the interior setting with the beautiful ambient lighting and tatami rooms in a tea ceremony-like environment.
You should probably have the course meal shown above if you go to Tsukitei. Although a bit pricey at 7,000 yen, you get superb quality shabu shabu meat accompanied with varied Japanese delicacies. What's more, this course includes a 2.5h all-you-can-drink component! This is an excellent choice for groups.
Ibuki is a quality sukiyaki restaurant located very close to the Shinjuku Station's South Exit.
Ibuki is more of a sukiyaki-specialized restaurant to be fair. The difference is that the soup broth is very rich and tasty so you don't necessarily need dipping sauces. In any case, the concept is pretty much the same: you dip your thin slices of meat and veggies until cooked then indulge in some of Japan's best cuisine! The price of Ibuki might seem a bit on the higher side at around 4,000 yen for a dinner meal, but trust me the quality is there so it's totally worth it.
This is an old established restaurant with a very popular branch location in Shinjuku. The secret to their success is the selection of quality in-season ingredients and excellent quality Japanese beef (wagyu).
This place very much on offering premium quality ingredients so it is not cheap, especially for dinner time. Lunch options are relatively affordable, however. You can get some exquisite set meals that include the wagyu and many other dishes for about 3,000 yen. For an outstanding shabu shabu experience treat yourself to a dinner meal! The price might get over 10,000 yen per person.
Shaofeiyan is a Chinese style shabu shabu often referred to as "hinabe". This is a small restaurant chain in Japan with about 15 restaurants across the country. It's been receiving rave reviews and growing in popularity.
What you get here is a shabu shabu soup divided into two sections. A mild white broth made from lamb stock and a hot red broth with intense spices. What you should definitely try here is the lamb meat. It's not very common to have it in Japan. This restaurant boasts about the health benefits of the lamb meat which they claim contains loads of good quality protein, vitamins and minerals.
These restaurants all offer awesome quality and most of them at a pretty reasonable price too! Hope this article will be useful next time you're looking for Shabu Shabu in Shinjuku!
