Takadanobaba is a great gourmet spot in Tokyo for cuisine from Myanmar because the place is home to some 1000 Myanmarese restaurants. Here are the best places to have some awesome Myanmarese food!
Feel free to follow favy!
Nong Inlay ノング インレイ
This restaurant is one of the best for the price and quality. It's also conveniently located at just a 1-minute walk from the Takadanobaba Station. You can choose from a wide variety of authentic Myanmarese noodle dishes and curries. Everything is from ¥600 to ¥1,000. They serve things you can rarely find in Japan such as skewered grilled lamb meat and cicada.
Swe Myanmar スィゥミャンマー
Swe Myanmar serves some generally healthy dishes and offers some vegetarian options too. You have many good options but the dish that is the claim to fame of the restaurant is the Mohinga. It's a kind of spicy fish broth soup with rice noodles. You can really taste the fresh herb flavours, the lemon, and the deep savoury taste of the fish sauce. The other thing to try is the Myanmar style chicken cooked with rice. They can be ordered by themselves or as part of a set meal.
Mingalaba serves good Myanmarese cuisine for cheap. For only ¥680, you can get the lunchtime special which comes with a main dish and a salad and rice that you can have large-sized at no extra cost. They have a good Mohinga noodle dish and curries. You should try their Burmese tofu made with yellow split peas.
Baba Myanmar Noodle ババ ミャンマー ヌードル
The specialty here is noodle dishes (it's in their name after all). It's a small restaurant with only about 8 seats but you can also order for take-out. It works like a ramen joint: you order from a vending machine, give your ticket and wait for your meal. Every main dish is between ¥700 to ¥1,000.
Last but not least is this little gem called Ruby (no pun intended). They have so many great dishes made from tomatoes, coconut milk, eggs, chicken, etc. If you go for lunch, you have access to a salad bar (all-you-can-eat), get a soup, rice and a dessert for just ¥750!
