6 Places to try Kushikatsu in Osaka

Osaka City

Kushikatsu is another popular cuisine in Osaka. Osaka people have their own rules: don't dip your kushikatsu into a sauce more than once! Keeping that in your mind, check the following list. This page mainly focuses on Shinsekai, the place where popular kushikatsu places are.

Daruma (元祖串かつ だるま 新世界総本店) 

About a 6 minute walk from Ebisu station, in the heart of Shinsekai, this place is the first branch of Daruma that opened in Osaka. You cannot say that you tried Kushikatsu unless you tried their kushikatsu! Enjoy the traditional taste of Osaka.

Karatto (カラッと)

Just a few minute walk from Shinsaibashi station, hidden in the back street of Shinsaibashi, you can have a traditional experience with its unique menu such as salmon with tartar sauce, broccoli, mozzarella, and banana! They also have seasonal menu too.

Yaekatsu (八重勝)

Just a 2 minute walk from Doubutsu-mae station, and located in Shinsekai, you will see a long queue outside Yaekatsu. This place is very popular and only has its branch in Shinsekai, so if you are there you should go and try their kushikatsu!

Yakko (やっこ)

Around a 5 minute walk from Shin Imamiya station, there is another place in Shinsekai where you can try Osaka's authentic kushikatsu. The chefs are very quick at cooking, so even if you are in a rush you can still enjoy satisfying amount of kushikatsu.

Shichifukujin (七福神)

Just a 5 minute walk from Tenma station, this place serves the first glass of beer for only ¥100! On a hot summer day, this place is perfect to satisfy your cravings for energetic food and drinks. This place has more of Izakaya type of atmosphere, so you can drink, refresh, and eat!

Echigen (越源)

Just about a 5 minute walk from Doubutsuenmae station, Echigen is a hidden famous kushikatsu place in Shinsekai. It might be a little tricky to get there, so be sure to note down the address, or you can always ask people!
