5 Places In Tokyo For Some Sublime Cheescakes!

Tokyo

Here are 5 of the best addresses in Tokyo for cheesecake. Some are take-out bakeries while others are beautiful cafes where you can spend some relaxing time.

Feel free to follow favy!

Johann (Meguro)

For some delicious homemade cheesecake in Tokyo, you won't go wrong with this shop that has been around for half a century. They are particular about using natural ingredients and they have a nice variety of cheesecakes to choose from that are about ¥300 to ¥400 a piece. 65% of the cake is actual cheese so the taste is really smooth and rich! You can buy a whole cake for about ¥2,500.

The shop essentially a take-out bakery.

Johann is located near the Nakamegura station, which is in a beautiful part of Tokyo that you should visit if you haven't already!

A WORKS (Meguro)

The cheesecakes here are probably the kind of colourful rainbow cakes you dreamt of when you were a kid. They have a glazy surface and a super fluffy and rich inside. You can put some lemon juice on them to change the taste. The acidity balances out the sweetness in just the right way. The "Rainbow Cake" shown above is ¥480. It has six layers of colours but the taste is the same. There are plenty of other choices that are just as enticing. One piece might not be enough!

Pablo (Akihabara)

PABLO in one of the most famous and popular chain shop specializing in cheesecakes and tarts. What makes their baked goods special is you can choose if you'd like it baked rare or medium-rare - just like ordering a steak! All the products are freshly baked at each shop. They have a couple of locations in Tokyo, including one in Akihabara for which we added the address below.

Rue Favart (Ebisu)

Rue Favart, a French-style bistro in Ebisu, has all kinds of delectables sweets, including some amazing cheesecakes! The artfully decorated interior is another reason to go. It's arguably one of the most beautiful and calming cafes in Tokyo. Judge for yourself by the picture below.

Yogashi Shirotae (Akasaka)

If you want some great cheesecake in a retro, authentic cafe - the so-called "kissaten" of Japan - we can't recommend this place more! This place has been around since 1978 and is very popular so you might have to wait in line to get a seat, but it is well worth it! As is to be expected from a kissaten, the coffee, although a bit pricey, is very good too! Yogashi Shirotae is near the Akasaka-Mitsuke Station.
