Sakana-to O-sake Gotoshi 魚とお酒 ごとし

This is a small sushi and sake bar of just 10 places located a 5-minute walk from Karasumaoike station. They offer all kinds of warm sakes to pair with your exquisite sushi. The place is relatively high-end so expect to pay around ¥6,000 or more per person.

Takahashi たかはし

Near Karasuma station, there is this great affordable sake bar. The place has only 12 seats (8 counter seats and one 4-seat table) and a simple, relaxing authentic interior with a nice wooden counter. Expect to pay around ¥2,000 and ¥3,000. This is also a good place to try shochu (Japanese spirit).

Suiba すいば

This is the place to go for affordability and excellent quality of both sake and traditional side dishes such as sashimi, stews or dumplings. The catch is that Suiba is a standing bar - which actually isn't really a catch because standing bars have a charm of their own so you should definitely try this place out! There are about 40 places at Suiba so you can enter in relatively large groups. The bill here should cost you more than ¥2,000.
