Mega Kebab Nagoya: Yummy Yummy

Nagoya

Mega Kebab has been a favorite in Nagoya since its establishment in 2000. There are now 9 locations across Nagoya, including 2 inside Chubu airport. If you are looking for a delicious Turkish street food bite (that is also halal), find one of these shops and get your fix.

Feel free to follow favy!
If you've ever walked around the Osu Kannon shopping area in Nagoya, you've likely passed by one of the Mega Kebab shops. The friendly (sometimes pushy) staff are always encouraging passersby to stop and get a kebab or ice cream. If you've never tried the kebabs here, you should do so at least once while you are in Nagoya. Although the Mega Kebab shops do not have an official halal certification, they claim to use all halal ingredients, and are owned and run by Muslim staff.
The most popular item is the pita bread kebab. It is just ¥500 for a medium chicken pita, or ¥600 for a medium beef. If you're feeling really hungry, the large size is ¥800 and ¥900, respectively.
A french bread kebab sandwich is an extra ¥100, but adds a delicious crunch to the experience that is worth it.
If bread isn't necessary, you can order the cup kebab instead and enjoy all the meaty goodness with a fork.
If you've had your fill of kebabs and want to sample something a little different, try the hamburger rice or kebab rice. You'll want to sit down and enjoy these specialties at a table. Other extra items such as the ¥400 chicken shish kebabs, or cheesy bread are also worth a try.
At the end of your meal (or just a a treat), try the stretchy Turkish ice cream! The texture is unlike that of normal ice cream, and is very satisfying. Be warned: the guy serving the ice cream to you will probably mess with you by spinning the ice cream out of your hands several times before finally giving it to you!! Have your video camera at the ready to capture the hilarity!
