Kanazawa Nightlife: 5 top spots to spend an evening in Kanazawa

Kanazawa

This guide includes some of the best bars and izakayas Kanazawa has to offer. The list includes a mix of authentic classy bars and also some laid back places where you can walk into casually.

Feel free to follow favy!

Bar Spoon

This is a classic bar of long-standing run by a master bartender that does some of the best cocktails you'll find in Kanazawa. Top-quality fruits, herbs and other ingredients are used as ingredients. The cocktails are so good that even the non-alcoholic versions are popular. The atmosphere is super quaint and relaxing, and the service is impeccable.

Bar Spoon is located in Katamachi, the shopping district of Kanazawa, located to the south west of the castle park.

Londonya

The European-style bar housed in a nice authentic brick building has been around and loved by the locals since 1969. It looks small from the outside, but it's actually pretty spacious with around 10 tables and a counter that can sit in total about 70 people.

They serve some good cocktails, Guinness beer, and high-ball drinks. If you're really hungry, you might want to try their aged beef t-bone steak which is really succulent.

The bar is located near Kanazawa station.

Yakan Hiko

Located on the 29th floor of Hotel Nikko, Yakan Hiko, which means 'night flight', has got to have one of the most spectacular night views of the city! It's essentially a classy dining bar so perhaps the best way to enjoy the place is by having a few orders of food that you pair with their great list of alcoholic drinks.

Cocktails are delicious but not cheap with some being over ¥2,000 a glass. There is also a ¥600 cover charge. If you want to enjoy the place without breaking the bank, you're better to go during the happy hours from 17:30 to 20:00 during which there is no cover charge and some drinks are offered from ¥900.

Kuroya

This is a superb seafood izakaya where you can enjoy both some top quality, fresh sashimi from the nearby fish market and some cooked fish and other seafood too. Naturally, this kind of food goes well with Japanese sake and shochu (Japanese spirit), so you'd better ask for a good pairing! If you want a full dining experience, their courses are amazing! They range in price from ¥3,500 to about ¥5,000.

The traditional tavern is located an 8-minute walk from Kanazawa station.

Kaname Bar & Cafe

This bar is really cozy and laid back. It's not too intimidating to walk into either if you aren't a local, as the place is very foreigner-friendly, with bartenders fluently bilingual and menus in English. Note that the place is non-smoking which is a rarity in Japan. They have some live music and special events every once in a while.

Check out their facebook page to know more about their events.
