Little pool coffee

omuraice_store_front
Little pool coffee is a small 5-seat shop in Omotesando that is worth lining up at to get a taste of their super fluffy omurice (Japanese-style omelette on rice). As you can see, it is very popular with young women.

So soft it jiggles

Pretty much everyone one orders this Omurice Torotoro (¥850). Regardless of whether you have it inside the restaurant or to go, it comes in this paper box. It's so perfectly shaped that it's almost a shame to eat. It's heavier than it looks too, and when you move it, it literally jiggles because the center is still runny.

Cut it open with your spoon for the runny inside to spread. Seeing the runny inside overflow is the most satisfying part of eating omurice!
omurice_cover
Voila! This is the end result. The omelette spread open should cover entirely the bed of rice.
omelette_tasting
The rice is actually a stir-fried mix of onion and chicken with a ketchup sauce.

And of course, there is the really fluffy egg part that melts in your mouth as you chew, releasing the perfect amount of savouriness and sweetness.

The cheese adds a little more richness and savouriness to the dish that is much appreciated.

This is truly an awesome omurice!

This time I tried the "torotoro" one, which is runny in its center, but they also have the "kurumi" option that is more thoroughly cooked.

Note that they have refreshing, original drinks too.

Give little pool coffee a try next time you're in the Omotesando area!
