Kyubey, The Zenith Of Sushi In Tokyo (Reservation Info Included)

Ginza

Kyubey is said to be one of the best sushi restaurants in Tokyo. While in Tokyo, I bet you want to eat all the sushi before you head back home. And of course, there are tons of types to choose from, such as the cheap conveyor belt type of sushi, or the standing type of sushi. But while you're here, you should splurge at least once and try la creme de la creme, Kyubey in Ginza!

Feel free to follow favy!

Kyubey, High-End Sushi Perfection

Kyubey is said one of the top restaurants in the world, and quite possibly one of the best sushi restaurants in Japan. If you want to try real, top quality sushi while you're in Japan, you have to try Kyubey!

Kyubey's main restaurant is in Ginza; it has an annex in Ginza as well, and some branches at different hotels around the city. (Please look at the link below for other locations).

The Ginza main branch opened in 1935.

This restaurant is highly popular so it is always packed with a long line outside so you better book in advance!

At the main restaurant in Ginza, they have different seating options, such as counter seats, or Japanese-style counter seats, or even private rooms for different group sizes.
Since Kyubey is one of the most sought-after sushi restaurants in the world, a reservation many weeks in advance is a must to avoid long lines. You can make an online reservation through the link below.

Menu

Lunch

For lunch, there are different price options, starting at 6,000 yen for chirashi dishes and nigiri dishes. The "Omakase" (letting the chef decide) set is nice, as it allows you to sample different dishes that are suggested by the chef (this is 11,000 yen).
For a more impressive lunch, the kaiseki (a type of Japanese course meal) is great, it is between 15,000-25,000 yen.

*Note that the lunch prices as of October 2018, are all reduced by ¥2,000 for the anniversary commemorating the foundation of Kyubey!

Dinner

For dinner, the "omakase" starts at 10,000, and the "kaiseki" is between 15,000-30,000. It comes with an appetizer, sashimi, grilled fish, a sushi assortment and soup.

You cannot order a la carte at Kyubey but you can tell the chef if you have any preferences.

*Please note that consumption tax is not included!

Reservation and Hours

On the restaurant's website, it is not possible to make an online reservation, and it is suggested to make a reservation through your hotel concierge or by services such as Voyagin linked above here (click the "online reservations" button).

Reservations for lunch can be made only for 11:30. For other hours, seating will be according to arrival order.

Reservations for private rooms can only be made for orders of 8,000 yen or more during lunch time, and for orders of 15,000 yen or more at dinner time.
(There is a 10% service charge for private rooms).

Please note that there is also a same-day cancellation charge: 2,500/person during lunch time, and 5,000/person for night time.

Souvenirs

You can also bring back some souvenirs, some of which have to be ordered 3 days in advance.
How about bringing back some special roasted tea for your family back home?

Finally...

For possibly the best sushi experience ever, you must try Kyubey in Ginza, Tokyo!
